Island Peak Climbing in Nepal - 19 Days

Locally known as Imja Tse, Island peak offers an enjoyable climb , It was a training peak used by greats like sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Sherpa ,the route we use today is the same one they discovered  in 1953.

Island peak  also provides some of the most striking scenery in the Khumbu.  the peak can be likened to an Island in a glacial sea, dwarfed on both sides by the stupendous Lhotse/Nuptse South Wall to the north and Baruntse to the south hence the name island peak. The views from the top of this mountain are truly wonderful, giving you memories for a lifetime of your climb and of the fabulous Himalayan range.

To the south of the Imja glacier and icy flutings of Baruntse  and the Amphu peaks lead the eye to the lofty pinnacle of Ama Dablam  which is liked a giant sea – stack guarding the entrance to the glacial bay in which Island peak stands. Island peak climbing is a great trek and climb in an ancient land where the Sherpas still confer to a lifestyle that has remained unchanged for decades

If climbing a 6000 meter peak was in your bucket list then look no further ,although a bit on the technical side it is just perfect for honing your climbing skills and building up your confidence for bigger and higher mountains.
